Het Postkantoor vzw bestaat enerzijds uit Postkantoor 00/00/00, anderzijds bieden we tal van projecten aan.Postkantoor 00/00/00 is een uniek postkantoor voor brieven naar overleden mensen.
Ze is een dagelijks onderdeel, het fundament van Het Postkantoor vzw.

Postkantoor 00/00/00 wil mensen op verhaal brengen, door te schrijven over de dood heen. Handgeschreven brieven naar overledenen. Want liefde overlijdt niet.

Elke briefschrijver ontvangt een interpretatie van de brief in een beeld, een hertekening. De kruisbestuiving van enerzijds het schrijven over de dood heen en anderzijds het bezielde, beeldende antwoord maakt Postkantoor 00/00/00 heel eigen.

Die kruisbestuiving werkt helend en transformerend.

Visie

In onze samenleving is onze relatie met de dood heel onnatuurlijk geworden.
Secularisering, individualisering en een overactieve levensstijl hebben onze samenleving ingrijpend veranderd.
We leven in een tijd van pijnvermijding, waarbij de dood al te vaak wordt ontkend.

De dood wordt uit de publieke ruimte geduwd. Ook uit het publieke gesprek. Het maakt ons onwennig om erover te praten en ernaar te handelen. Als het ons overkomt, wat onontkoombaar is, lijken we al te vaak in een diepte te vallen waarin het donker en eenzaam kan zijn.
Het Postkantoor vzw gelooft sterk in de draagkracht van nabestaanden. Rouw is levenslang en is de keerzijde van leven in liefde. Rouw is liefde. Met rouw hebben we iets te doen.

Rouw vraagt om een tussenruimte waarbinnen bewogen, getroost en geheeld kan worden.

Een tussenruimte waarbinnen we zachtheid brengen naar onze pijn. Deze kunnen toelaten.
Het Postkantoor fungeert als tussenruimte, een ruimte zonder oordeel. Een tussenruimte waar we de pijn van rouw graag wat zachter kneden, binnen een sfeer die verstilt en verdiept.

Het Postkantoor vzw wil die tussenruimte creëren waarbinnen de pijn van het zijn en niet-zijn mag stromen.

Want pijn heeft een functie. Ze vraagt om doorleefd te worden. Ze vraagt om aandacht, roept ons op om zorg te dragen voor onszelf en anderen.

Het Postkantoor vzw est composé de Postkantoor 00/00/00, d'une part et d'autre part, nous proposons différents projets.

Postkantoor 00/00/00 est un bureau de poste unique pour des lettres destinées aux personnes décédées.
Il s'agit d'une partie quotidienne, le fondement de Het Postkantoor vzw. Postkantoor 00/00/00 souhaite aider les personnes à surmonter leur peine en écrivant par delà la mort.

Des lettres manuscrites adressées à un défunt. Parce que l'amour ne meurt pas. Chaque écrivain reçoit une image interprétant sa lettre, une retranscription. Ce croisement entre l'écrit par delà la mort et la réponse inspirée et traduite en image crée l'originalité de Postkantoor 00/00/00.

Ce croisement a un effet rétablissant et transformant. L'art : consolateur!

Vision

Notre relation avec la mort est devenue totalement hors naturedans notre société. La sécularisation, l'individualisme et le style de vie super-actif ont radicalement modifié notre société. Nous vivons dans une époque d'évitement de la souffrance, dans laquelle la mort est souvent niée.

La mort est expulsée de l'espace public, expulsée aussi des conversations publiques. Cela nous rend mal à l'aise pour en parler et d'agir. Quand elle nous arrive, ce qui est inattendu, nous semblons trop facilement tomber dans une profondeur sombre et isolante. Het Postkantoor vzw croit avec force dans le soutien de la famille. Le deuil dure toute la vie, il est le revers de la vie d'amour. Deuil est amour. Nous avons quelque chose à faire dans le deuil.

Deuil nécessite un espace intermédiaire, dans lequel l'on peut se mouver, se consoler, se rétablir. Un espace intermédiaire dans lequel nous pouvons donner une douceur à la souffrance. La tolérer.
Het Postkantoor fonctionne comme un espace intermédiaire, un espace hors jugement. Un espace intermédiaire dans lequel nous pouvons apprivoiser la souffrance du deuil avec plus de douceur, dans une atmosphère calmante et qui permet un approfondissement.

Vision

In our society our relationship with death has become unnatural. Secularisation, individualization, and an over-active lifestyle have profoundly transformed our society. Today, we try to avoid pain, death is all too often silenced. It is banished from the public space, from our conversations. We feel uncomfortable talking about it, acting upon it. When death comes, which is inevitable, we seem to plunge into the darkest depths of loneliness. Het Postkantoor vzw believes in the strength of the bereaved. Grief is for life, it is the other side of a life in love. Grief is love. Grief gives us something to do. It requires a space where we can go through the motions, be comforted, and heal. An in-between space where we look at our pain with kindness, where we allow it. Het Postkantoor is such a space, a space without judgment. An in-between space where we mould the pain of our grief into something softer, where there is room for stillness and soul searching.
